Renovate 18th century Derbyshire farmhouse
Here's one example from The Peak District, Derbyshire, an 18th century stone farmhouse where we converted a hayloft into a new en-suite. On a building of this age as the layers of history are peeled back often unexpected technical issues arise and this job was no exception. We solved them all and had another unexpected problem - snow and freezing weather conditions (see the white out in the picture). We enjoyed this renovation job and the result was a very satisfied client.
This lovely 300 year old, grade ll listed farmhouse's hayloft had probably not been touched since it was built and needed everything - new walls, insulation, new internal and external plumbing, electrics, joinery, tiling, heating and flooring. We'd delayed the start date to try and avoid wintry, freezing conditions - little did we know the Beast From The East would hit bringing sub-zero conditions. Transport and working conditions were difficult, especially digging out the trenches to lay pipes - it was a little chilly high on The Peaks.
The result is a unique and stylish en-suite. Everyone agrees it's a most impressive outcome and well worth it.
Our customer was very complimentary.
Jamie, Adam and his team have created a fabulous new en-suite room in an unconverted hayloft in our old farmhouse. They managed the building works, new drains, plumbing, electrics, plastering and installing all the bathroom fittings.
They were really easy to deal with and were respectful of our home, always tidying up at the end of each day. They weren't fazed by the technical challenges that came up during the works, and they managed them without drama, always finding a creative solution. Sub-zero temperatures and huge snow drifts didn't deter them! Jamie was great at keeping us informed of progress and letting us know in advance when there were going to be any delays.
